OBITUARIES

Badder
Mason L. Badder aged 76 of Ionia passed away February 24, 2009. He was born June 13, 1932 in Orange Twp the son of Zenas and Helen (Monks) Badder. He married Thelma Jean Lowery July 22, 1950 in Muir. He sold farm equipment and farmed all his life at the family farm on David Hwy. He survived by his loving wife of 59 years Thelma Jean Badder of Ionia. Children Mary L. Badder of Ionia, Barbara and George Takacs of Grosse Ile, MI, Brenda and Ken McCallum of Saranac, Robert and Marie Badder of Portland, Lawrence Badder of Portland, Jeffrey and Gloria Badder of Ionia, Connie and John Wellman of Portland, Joel and Valorie Badder of Ionia and Andrew and Kendra Badder of Ionia. 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Beloved pet Maggie. He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren Rebecca and Joey Badder. 2 sisters Elvesta Toland and Mary Daestermars. Funeral Services for Mason were held Friday, February 27 at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Kendall Harger officiating. Benbow
Mark “Buddy” Allen Benbow age 55, of Portland went home to be with his Lord on February 20, 2009. Surviving are his wife and best friend, Katie; son, Mark; daughter, Nicole (Ben Quinn); grandchildren Austin, Tiara (Steele), Cierra, Macy and Logan Quinn; mother Joyce Martin; brothers and sisters Mick (Bev) Benbow, Diane(Dar) Benjamin, Steve Benbow, Bruce (Kathy) Benbow and Debbie Butler. Services were held Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Donations may be made in his name to the Portland Nazarene Praise Band Fund at the church. Gross
Robert Lee Gross age 69, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Priscilla “Cil” Gross; children, Lynn (Michael) Winter of Portland, Robert L. (Holly) Gross, Jr. of California, Dawn (Adam) Holcomb of Portland, Deanna (Jim) Gromelski of Colorado, Steve (Kelly) Gross of Colorado, and David Secor of California; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sue (Tom) Lasky of Martin, Tennessee and Pamela (Terry) Christensen of Spring Lake, MI; several nieces and nephews; special friend for many years Mike Steffes; his special dog, Prissy. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, February 27, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Portland with the Rev. Larry King, Pastor presiding. Military Honors were provided by the Portland VFW Post #4090. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick’s Parish Boiler Fund or to the Agent Orange Familes in Vietnam that were affected by the War. McBrayne
Robert (Scotty) R. McBrayne, 80, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Ionia, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Robert is survived by his daughters, Kristee (Samuel) Morris of Greenville, Margo (Matthew) Miller of Ionia and Beth (Christopher) Reed of Caledonia; grandsons, Steven Beebe Jr., Nicholas Miller and Mitchell Reed; granddaughters, Sherry Beebe, Tara Miller and Gwen Miller; great grandchildren, Steven and Olivia Beebe; his special friend , Margaret McLain of Lakeland, Fla.

Lorie Ann (Hanft) Pipes, passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2009 at the age of 39. She was born on August 13, 1969 in St. Joseph, MI. Surviving are her father and mother, Scott and Beverly Humphreys; daughters, Halley and Jenna; son, James; sister, Dinnie Ross all of Portland; brother, Bill Hanft of Texas; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Pastor Raymond (Ray) E. Richmond, age 59 of Lyons passed away at Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids, February 20th from accidental injuries.He is survived by his wife Deb Richmond; son, Jonathan Richmond of Lyons; daughter, Dawn (Ryan) Thelen of Westphalia; grandsons, Dylan Richmond and Ryan Thelen Jr.; foster children, Brenda (Matt) Vugteveen of Hastings, William (Amanda) Cottrell of Marshall; brothers, Paul Richmond of CA., Dave (Mary) Richmond of Ionia and Doug Orourke of MN; sister, Rose Workman of MI; sister in laws, Pat Stevens of St. Johns and Irene (John) Flick of Fowler; brother in laws, Clayton Kirby of Auburn, IN. and Raymond Brady of Auburn, MI; father and mother in law, Ernest and Audrey Kirby of Lyons; foster father George Koert; foster brothers, Jeff and Pete Koert and their families of Zeeland. Also many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 25, 2009 with interment in Lyons Cemetery. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Muir. Robinson
Betty Robinson age 76, passed away on February 20, 2009. Surviving are her husband Richard; children Susan (Michael) Kelley, Kathy (James) Witherspoon, Michael (Diana) Robinson, and Thomas (Tanya) Robinson; grandchildren Jason (Rachel) Robinson, Jennifer Kelley, Richard Kelley II, Anne (Danny) Holtsclaw, Kaleb Robinson, Cassaundra Pline, Zenaida Forquer, Desmond Ingraham, Darian Robinson and Taryn Robinson; great grandchildren Benjamin Robinson, Stephanie Holtsclaw, and Daniel Holtsclaw; siblings Marilyn Shaw, Vivian (Kenneth) Wheeler and Patsy Buckley; sisters-in-law Marilyn (Lyman) Littley, Elaine (Duane) Hansen and Gayla Robinson; numerous nieces and nephews.
